Jointline is delighted to have been exhibiting alongside the Road Safety Marking Association, at Construction Week. The Lincoln Group Training Association (LGTA), CITB and Lincolnshire & Rutland EBP organised career taster event for Lincolnshire school children.

This three-day event is taking place at the Lincolnshire Showground, from Tuesday 27th to Thursday 29th September. During this time, the showground has been converted into a workshop for students, featuring different activities such as joinery, plastering, plumbing, electrical wiring and line marking.

Steve Taylor, Group Training Officer, for Lincoln Group Training Association added: "Nearly 1,600 school pupils from across the Lincolnshire region will try their hands at a range of construction skills during the three day ‘have-a-go’ event at the Lincolnshire Showground. This interactive approach is designed to inspire young people to take up a career within the construction industry."

The event is aimed at giving students the chance to learn about different careers and explore their potential options. It will also provide them with the opportunity to meet representatives from different businesses and see first hand how these industries work. John Hayton, Line Marking Supervisor, from the Bradford Depot has been at the show all week to demonstrate how lines are laid using a hand operated pram. The students have also been able to try their hand at creating letters and symbols by hand using sand instead of thermoplastic. The RSMA have also been providing the students with technical knowledge and the history of line marking as well as information on the career prospects and routes into the industry.

Angel Fernandez, Marketing and Business Development Manager, said: "It has been an honour to represent the line marking industry with the RSMA at Construction Week. Over the 3 days we were able to showcase career paths to students from schools all over the greater Lincolnshire area. Seeing so many engaged students trying their hand at line marking and asking about career opportunities just shows how important these events are for those looking to decide on their future in the jobs market."
