Read case studyWe were proud to host the official ground breaking ceremony to mark the Oakwood Park Improvement works for Derby City Council.
Councillor Robin Wood, Mayor of the City of Derby, joined Oakwood Ward Councillors, Mick Barker and Matthew Eyre along with Hilary Nelmes, Parks Development Officer, for Derby City Council to celebrate the occasion.
Cllr Wood said, “Oakwood is very proud of its parks and green spaces. This one has been inaccessible to many people up to now if the weather has been damp. Jointline's work will mean that everyone will be able to enjoy to peace and tranquillity of Oakwood's principal green space.”
The existing footpaths have suffered damage from heavy rainfall, the installation of land drainage in localised areas will help reduce surface water and prevent icing in the winter months. The works involve the removal of existing timber footpath edgings and the excavation of existing footpaths to increase the width to 2m. Stone sub-base levels will be reinstated to the correct level to eliminate any low areas with new pre-cast concrete edgings and the resurfacing of paths with tarmac.
The programme of works is due to take 8-weeks to complete. Temporary footpaths along with diversion signing & guarding are in place to redirect pedestrians to ensure public safety and allow access for park users.
