Barbican Road, City of York

Jointline was recently contracted by a new client, Lane Rental Services, to complete a line marking scheme on the historic Barbican Road and A1036, for the City of York Council.

The city centre scheme was installed on a freshly laid tarmacadam surface that was completed by Lane Rentals. The 2-man Jointline road marking crew began in early November and was completed over 5-night shifts. The Bradford based team installed a box junction where the A1036 meets Barbican Road, urban nearside parking restriction lines were installed along full length of the scheme with a double 75mm flat line in primrose yellow. 150mm lane lines and stop line markings were installed on four junctions, with designated cycle reservoirs and cycle logos. The scheme also included 6 off road parking bays and green texture flex high friction surfacing to an existing cycle path.

The A1036 adjacent road was finished with road legends, directional arrows and loading bay markings.

The 2-man crew was joined on the final night by an additional two operatives on screed and another to complete the high friction surfacing to ensure the contract was completed on schedule. Road closures and traffic diversions were managed by Roadway UK Traffic Management Ltd

Darren Reynolds, Contracts Supervisor, at Bradford said: “Good communication between Adam from lane rentals and Jointline helped this one run smoothly. After the temporary lining was installed, myself and Andrew Colbeck pre marked for Lane rentals tarmac crew to ensure all new lining work sat on the newly laid tarmac joints. The operations team from Bradford gave me an additional crew on the Friday to make sure we got this one over the line, on completion the client said we had been a pleasure to work with, and to be honest the feeling is mutual.”
