The Mill Adventure Base

Jointline is excited to announce that we have completed a path refurbishment at The Mill Adventure Base in Sutton-in-Ashfield, a purpose-built urban adventure centre providing exciting, adventurous activities to the young people of Nottinghamshire and beyond. From one off, fun taster sessions to curriculum focused courses of activities the centre offers a large range of on-site land activities with access to Kingsmill Reservoir for water activities.

The existing surface was prone to flooding and had suffered water damage, works were required to install a durable and suds compliant footpath to link several of the attractions throughout the facility.

An area of 120m2 was excavated by 150mm, disposing of the spoil off site and installing a new membrane before laying a new MOT Type 1 base layer that was compacted to 100mm. 40m2 of new treated timber edges were installed along the path areas and along the base of the exiting gabion cages to retain new surface. The timber was kerf cut to ensure that it formed smooth curved edges to follow the lines of the natural surroundings.

The new path was constructed using a resin bound mix of LeesonBound polyurethane resin with a 2-5mm & 1-3mm Daltex Cappuccino aggregate blend. The total area laid was 120m2 at 50mm thick.

Simon Wolstenholme, Contracts Manager, said: “We are proud to have partnered with Nottingham County City Council on this project, which not only gives visitors increased access to the attractions but also ensures an enjoyable and safe walking experience for years to come!”
