Jointline was contracted to deliver specialist surfacing and airfield marking works on the November Alpha taxiway at Manchester Airport, one of the UK’s busiest aviation hubs. The project formed part of a wider airfield improvement programme aimed at enhancing safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The ageing surface of the November Alpha taxiway required substantial upgrades to meet current operational demands and CAA safety standards. The works had to be carried out within a tight timeframe to avoid disruption to daily airport operations, while also ensuring compliance with all aviation safety protocols. Coordinating logistics within a live airfield environment posed additional complexity, requiring precise planning and execution.
Jointline deployed its expert aviation team to deliver a full programme of high-performance surfacing and precision line marking. Using aviation-grade materials, the team installed new taxiway markings in accordance with ICAO and CAP168 requirements. Working closely with other contractors and airport stakeholders, Jointline scheduled activities to align with operational windows and safety procedures, ensuring uninterrupted airport functionality.
The upgraded November Alpha taxiway has improved surface integrity, visual guidance, and overall airside safety. The precision-applied markings support efficient aircraft movement and reduce the risk of ground-handling incidents. The works have also extended the operational lifespan of the taxiway, supporting Manchester Airport’s growth and capacity planning while demonstrating Jointline’s capability in delivering complex aviation projects.
