Safety-First Line Marking at a Live Gas Storage Facility
Jointline’s off-highways team recently completed a high-durability line marking scheme at a live gas storage facility. Operating in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment, the team delivered the works under strict controls to support safe, efficient navigation across the site. The project focused on clearly defining movement zones for vehicles and pedestrians to reduce operational risk.
Working within an operational gas storage facility presented significant challenges. The site demanded rigorous adherence to health and safety protocols, including careful coordination with onsite safety officers and ongoing compliance with hazardous area regulations. The markings needed to provide long-term durability and slip resistance to withstand the movement of both people and heavy plant in all weather conditions. Additionally, works had to be completed without disrupting site operations.
Jointline applied a specialist MMA (methyl methacrylate) resin system known for its rapid cure times, skid resistance, and high visibility. The scope included clearly defined pedestrian walkways, zebra crossings, parking bays, and designated traffic routes for plant and service vehicles. The layout was designed in close collaboration with the client to ensure maximum clarity and alignment with the site’s traffic management strategy.
All works were delivered under controlled access and strict permit-to-work procedures. The team utilised ATEX-compliant equipment and adhered to a comprehensive risk management plan, ensuring the highest standards of safety throughout.
The project was delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification. The completed markings provide clear, long-lasting visual guidance that helps separate people from vehicles and supports safe site navigation. The use of MMA materials ensures resilience to weathering, abrasion, and chemical exposure, reducing long-term maintenance requirements. This scheme reinforces Jointline’s capability to operate effectively in sensitive industrial environments where safety is non-negotiable.
