Pavement Reinstatements - The Moor, Sheffield City Centre

Jointline Construction were contacted by one of their clients regarding an issue that they had in the main shopping area in Sheffield city centre, several excavations to repair a damaged electric cable had been carried out and in the process the existing paving blocks were damaged and would need replacing.

The paving in this location is classed as “prestige” so the client were looking for a contractor to carry out the specialist works on their behalf. Speaking to the main contractor and the local council, the type of paving blocks required were quickly identified and soonafter sourced.

A utility company carried out the repairs to the damaged electrical cable, back filled the excavation with type 1 stone and topped off with asphalt so the paving could be reinstated at a later date; blocks were then laid to match the existing formation. The bedding was allowed to set overnight and joints were grouted the following day.

The crew were fantastic and works were completed 2 days early in a 9 day programme, this made sure to avoid disruption for the shops that were opening back up after an already difficult lockdown.

Jointline Construction are now the preferred contractor for the prestige paving in Sheffield city centre and have been contacted by other utility companies to carry out these type of reinstatements on their behalf, which attests to the incredible works that were carried out by all of those involved!
