Forestry Excavator Investment: Takeuchi TB290‑2 Joins Jointline Fleet
Introduction
Jointline has expanded its capabilities in forestry and civils work with the addition of a Takeuchi TB290‑2 compact excavator to its plant fleet. This 9‑tonne machine brings advanced features well suited to the complex, rugged conditions of forestry sites, and will support the company's growing Forestry Division.
The Challenge
Forestry operations present unique logistical and environmental challenges, including navigating uneven terrain, working around trees and stumps, and operating in remote, ecologically sensitive areas. To maintain safety, precision, and productivity, Jointline required an efficient and robust solution that could perform a variety of earthmoving and groundwork tasks with minimal environmental impact.
The Solution
The Takeuchi TB290‑2 offers the reach, stability, and digging power needed for forestry environments. It is soon to be fitted with a Steelwrist Tiltrotator, enabling 360° tool rotation and tilt. This will allow for safer, more precise movements when working around natural obstructions. The excavator also aligns with Jointline’s environmental commitments, featuring a Stage V–compliant Yanmar engine with diesel particulate filter (DPF), automatic idle, economy work-mode, electronic engine monitoring, and dual-speed tracking with auto step-down, optimising fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
The Benefits
This investment delivers enhanced operational flexibility and environmental performance for Jointline’s Forestry Division. The TB290‑2 will improve productivity across a wide range of civils and forestry tasks while supporting safe and sustainable site practices. With modern low-emission technology and intelligent fuel-saving features, it meets current regulatory requirements and minimises environmental impact on sensitive woodland and off-highway locations.
